Design Choices

I wanted the design to reflect the true spirit of Temple University while ensuring the game was both visually appealing and sustainable.

The color palette of University Uncovered was an easy decision—I went with Cherry Red, White, and Gray to align with Temple University’s official colors. Cherry Red symbolizes the bold, spirited energy of the Temple community, while White represents a fresh start and the pursuit of knowledge. Gray adds a sleek, neutral balance, giving the design a strong yet modern feel. Together, these colors create a game that feels authentic to Temple’s identity while maintaining a cohesive and engaging visual aesthetic.

One of my key goals was to make the game reusable and environmentally friendly. Instead of using disposable paper or stickers, I opted for wooden icons as game pieces. Not only do they add a tactile, high-quality feel to the experience, but they also make the game more durable and sustainable. Players can use the same set over and over again without worrying about wear and tear, making University Uncovered a lasting part of their Temple memories.

To tie the whole theme together, I designed the game box to look like a classic black-and-white composition notebook—something every student has used at some point in their academic journey. This design choice adds a nostalgic, school-themed touch while making the game feel like an essential part of student life. This not only makes the packaging instantly recognizable but also reinforces the idea that University Uncovered is a game about learning, exploring, and documenting the Temple experience in a fun way.
